The Pocket Poet – An International Poetry Journal is a quarterly publication dedicated to short-form poetry. We welcome poets from around the world and publish work that is concise, creative, and memorable. Alongside our journal, we produce special poetry anthologies celebrating diverse voices and poetic traditions.

The Pocket Poet celebrates the art of brevity in poetry. Our mission is to provide an international platform for poets who express powerful ideas and emotions through short-form verse. We welcome diverse voices, styles, and perspectives while fostering a global community of readers and writers.

Submission Requirements

Submit up to 5 poems in a single document.

Poems should generally be 15 lines or fewer.

Work must be the author's own original creation.

Submissions must be in English.

Simultaneous submissions are accepted; please notify us immediately if a poem is accepted elsewhere.

Previously published work is not accepted unless requested for a specific anthology.

Formatting

Submit files in .doc or .docx format.

Use a readable font such as Times New Roman, Arial, or Calibri (11–12 pt).

Include page numbers if submitting multiple pages.

Place your name and email address on the first page.

Each poem should begin on a new page when possible.

Author Bio
Include a brief third-person biography of 50–100 words. You may mention previous publications, awards, current projects, or relevant literary interests.

Response Time
We aim to respond within 4–8 weeks. Response times may vary depending on the volume of submissions received.

Rights
Authors retain copyright of their work. Upon publication, authors grant The Pocket Poet:

First electronic publication rights.

Non-exclusive archival rights to display the work on our website and associated digital platforms.
After publication, rights revert fully to the author. We request acknowledgement of first publication in The Pocket Poet if the work is republished elsewhere.

Editorial Policy
The editors reserve the right to decline submissions that do not meet our editorial standards, formatting requirements, or publication needs. Minor editorial changes may be suggested before publication.

Payment
At present, The Pocket Poet is unable to offer payment. Contributors receive publication credit and promotion through our journal and social media channels.

Arden Blake is a poet, editor, and literary curator whose work is guided by a belief in the enduring power of concise, evocative language. As the founding editor of The Pocket Poet – An International Poetry Journal, Arden Blake champions poetry that is accessible, memorable, and emotionally resonant. Under Blake's editorial vision, the journal serves as a meeting place for emerging and established poets, celebrating the art of saying much with few words.
Blake's editorial interests include lyric poetry, prose poetry, haiku, micro-poetry, and experimental verse that explores the intersections of memory, identity, landscape, and human connection. Known for a thoughtful and encouraging editorial approach, Blake believes that every poem carries a unique music and that literature flourishes through dialogue between diverse voices.
Inspired by literary traditions from around the world, Arden Blake views poetry as both a personal refuge and a bridge between communities. Through publishing, mentoring, and literary advocacy, Blake continues to support writers who seek to transform ordinary moments into enduring art.
